Week 1: Winners & Losers vs Packers

The Vikings won 23-7 in a team-fought victory against the Green Bay Packers that would make them start off the season undefeated.

5 Winners of the game

1. Justin Jefferson:

It is safe to say that JJ has started right where he left off in the 2022 season. Jefferson recorded 184 yards and 2 touchdowns on 9 receptions to open up the season and it doesn't look like he'll be slowing down anytime soon. JJ proved he was the best player on the field, running freely wide open all around the Packers' defense who had no solution.

2. Kevin O'Connell:

O'Connell got his first win as a Head Coach on Sunday and gave hope to Vikings fans all throughout Minnesota. O'Connell's play calling was sharp, his clock management was on point, and his 4th down decision to go for it on the opening drive was exactly what Vikings fans had hoped to see. Now Vikings fans just hope everything that we saw Sunday translates as the season unfolds.

3. Za'Darius Smith:

Smith was one of the most underrated signings this past off-season. He absolutely terrorized his former team and made it a nightmare for Aaron Rodgers to try and throw the ball. Smith earned his first sack in purple and had a huge TFL at the goal-line to create a turnover on downs.

4. Kirk Cousins:

There was not much more that you could ask from Kirk on Sunday. He looked sharp, throwing for 277 yards and 2 touchdowns along with no turnovers. One thing that I noticed was that Kirk did a tremendous job sensing pressure and moving up in the pocket, which he flawed in his seasons past.

5. Harrison Smith:

Harrison Smith is back for another great season and all Vikings fans can smile to say that for the 33-year-old Safety. Harry was moving all over the field making it hard for Rodgers to pick up the coverage as usual and didn't look a step slower from years past. Smith also picked up another rare interception from Rodgers to make it a total of 2 in his career.

Loser of the game

1. Irv Smith Jr.:

Honestly, I am only putting Irv here because of the lack of knowing who to put in this spot. I can only find 1 potential 'loser' from this game and it is Irv solely for his lack of playing time. It was disappointing to see the lack of use of Irv Smith, but I have no doubt in my mind he will be back to full playing time soon barring any more injury issues.
